Girl Meets Life After High School: Episode Two | Girl Meets The Open Road (To Grandma's)

It's finally here!

Alan & Amy Matthews' House, 10 A.M.

Riley and Auggie knock on the front door to their grandparents' home.

Amy rushes over to the door. Alan stands in the kitchen eating an apple.

Amy: Alan, they're here!
Alan: Coming, dear. I was eating my healthy breakfast, like we talked about.

Amy opens the door.

Riley: Hi! We made it! Auggie, we made it, say hello.
Auggie, half-asleep, takes one earbud out: Oh, hi Grandma. Hi Grandpa. It's so bright out, jeez. Where can I put my things?
Alan: And good morning to you, too, sunshine. Riley, why don't you put your suitcase in Aunt Morgan's room, and Auggie, you've got Josh's.
Amy: Did you two have breakfast yet? I made pancakes.
Riley: Smiley face?
Amy: Of course.
Riley: YAY!
Alan: I had an apple.
Amy: Yes you did. Good for you.

Auggie lugs upstairs as Riley joins her grandmother in the kitchen. Alan goes to help Auggie.

Joshua Matthews' Bedroom, shortly afterwards

Auggie: What. Is. That. Smell?
Alan: Maybe rat poison? God knows what your uncle was doing in here this summer. He's finally back in New York, where he belongs!
Auggie: I wish I were back in New York right about now.

Alan sits on the bed.

Alan: Why's that, bud? Didn't you have a nice trip with your sister?
Auggie: Yeah, I guess. But it feels like a trap, being here. Like it's designed to trick me into thinking this is gonna last forever.
Alan: What's going to last forever?
Auggie: Me and Riley. Our childhoods. This.

Auggie gestures around the twenty-something's bedroom, which is disorganized.

Auggie: Why is it still like this?
Alan: He's our baby. We didn't have the heart to change it. You know how it is.
Auggie: I'm 14.
Alan: Oh. Well you will someday.

Matthews' Family Kitchen (New York), 1 P.M.

Cory and Topanga sit at the table.

Cory: It's quiet.
Topanga: Yeahhhhh. I like it.
Cory: I'm not feeling it. Needs more Maya.
Topanga: What about Riley?
Cory: I gave that girl eighteen years of my life. She walked away. It's over. We're done. Pssh.
Topanga: Aw, honey. She'll be back.
Cory: Yeah, right. The second she graduates she and Farkle are moving to Brazil or somewhere fancy where only smart people and their bunny loving wives can afford property.
Topanga: Wives? No. She's too young. They're too young, right? They're not going to get married. They're too young.
Cory: So were we.
Topanga: Oh no.
Cory: We're gonna be poor.
Topanga, calling Minkus: Stuart? Yeah, hi, Topanga. We're going to need to borrow some money. What for? Oh, nothing. Just a little snafu. The kids are fine! Ha. Ha. Help me!
